Outgoing Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot of the Israel Defense Forces described the IDF, Sunday evening, as "an army that is first and foremost a fighting army, a ready, powerful and deterrent army. An army that remains faithful to its values in recognition of the fact that our moral strength is an inseparable part of our operational strength."
Addressing a farewell event at the Kirya Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv, Eisenkot said, "In the past four years, we have been working non-stop to ensure the strength of the IDF. We expanded the scope of the regular and reserve forces' training, we improved the quality of our training and strengthened our operational capabilities. Together, we have established superiority, improved intelligence capabilities, and brought a significant leap forward in all sectors, in order to ensure the army's readiness for war."
