Chairman Gadi Yarkoni of the Eshkol Regional Council will meet with the Home Front Command this week in an attempt to cancel the command's blocking of the "Color Red" missile-alert application developed by a civilian entity.
The app was blocked by the command on the grounds that it had sent false warnings or issued warnings in a delay. Yarkoni explained that "unlike the Home Front Command's application, in which only three warning zones can be defined, in the Color Red and similar applications, real-time alerts can be received on all areas." He stressed, "It's important for our residents to drive along Route 232, which runs through several areas - Shaar Hanegev, Sdot Negev and Eshkol. This is important for parents whose children are hosted by friends in other communities. This is important because it gives some certainty to residents of the Gaza perimeter living in conditions of uncertainty. It's important because it can save lives."
