The National Monitoring and Building Unit is conducting an investigation against Deputy Director Burak Masalha of the State Comptroller's Office on suspicion of illegal construction, according to Maariv.
The affair began in 2001, when a villa in Kfar Kara began to be built on agricultural land, which is jointly owned by the state along with Masalha's father and other citizens. As early as 2001, the Haifa Magistrate's Court prohibited continuation of construction, but the work continued without interruption. Starting in 2017, the Regavim movement for preservation of state land sent a number of requests to the monitoring unit, demanding the implementation of a demolition order, emphasizing that the elusive conduct in the affair is even more serious since Masalha is a senior civil servant in the ministry responsible for proper management.
