Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Hertzliya Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yechiel Jakobovits zt"l.
"I've known the late Gaon for decades. During our meetings we used to speak in Torah and the rabbi was well versed in every Torah subject, and he also excelled at leading the rabbinate in his city with honor until his last day. Herzliya was privileged to have a great leader for 66 years. My condolences to his family, to the residents of the city of Herzliya, and to the many who heard his wisdom," Rabbi Yosef wrote.
