The Knesset plenum approved in second and third readings the proposed Criminal Information and Rehabilitation of Offenders Law. This is a government proposal to which a private proposal by MK Revital Swid was merged.

The bill replaces the Criminal Register Law with a new law that reflects recommendations of the Kanai Committee, including shortening the periods in which criminal information will be taken, especially from those whose offense was one-time or marginal, and restricts access to files that ended in acquittal only to the police and security bodies and no other body.
