The Peres Prize Foundation today announced the winner of the sixth Genesis Prize for 2019 is American Jewish businessman and philanthropist Robert Kraft.

Kraft was chosen for his commitment to combating anti-Semitism, his close connection to his Jewish roots and the State of Israel, and his extensive contributions in health, education, and sports. The prize, dubbed "The Jewish Nobel" by Time Magazine, will be awarded at a festive ceremony in Jerusalem in June 2019.

As part of winning Kraft will disburse the $1 million prize money for a philanthropic theme on the agenda of the entire world Jewish community - coping with and eliminating anti-Semitic phenomena worldwide.

The Genesis Prize was founded in 2012 as a US$1 million award given annually to Jewish people who have attained recognition and excellence in their fields. The prize was founded with the objective of inspiring and developing a sense of pride and belonging among young unaffiliated Jews throughout the world.
