Prime Minister Netanyahu sent condolences after Penina Shapira, the wife of former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Avraham Shapira, passed away on Friday at the age of 101.
"I send condolences to the Shapira family on the death of Rabbanut Pnina Shapira, widow of the late Rabbi Avraham Shapira, who passed away overnight," said Netanyahu.
"Rabbanit Shapira was an example of modesty and kindness and in her unique personality, she worked for the love of the people of Israel, in the Land of Israel, according to the Torah of Israel. She contributed greatly to the Mercaz Harav yeshiva, one of the leading religious Zionist religious organizations. May her memory be blessed forever."
