Public Safety Minister Gilad Erdan has ordered the Ministry of Justice to carry out a thorough investigation with the Shabak Israel Security Agency and the Investigations and Intelligence Division to ensure the rights of the detainees under investigation in arson at the Dormition Church.
Following the disqualification of a juvenile suspect's confession, Erdan said that "the handling of this investigation should be brought before the Unit for the Investigation of Interrogees' Complaints in the Ministry of Justice and these matters be thoroughly examined within the police department as well."
