The Knesset has approved the final readings of an amendment to the law, initiated by Welfare Minister Haim Katz, which will cancel the requirement of a nursing patient to live with a relative who provides care as a condition for receiving a long-term care benefit.

This is a process that will make it easier for family members in cases where a local professional committee of the Bituach Leumi National Insurance Institute has determined that no nursing services are available. Minister Katz said, "This is an amendment that will significantly help the residents of the periphery, which is characterized by the difficulty of staffing nursing-care jobs."
