Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel responded to the court's decision to allow the import of pork to Israel following a loophole in the law.
"Unfortunately, the court cooperates with the damage to the foundations of the Jewish state. This situation is a loophole in the law and not an absolute permit to import pork. It cannot be that until the final decision of the court it will allow the importation of pork instead of banning it. This bending of the rules is eroding our Jewish identity and severely injuring religious feelings. I will continue to act to prevent any entry of pork to the country," he said.
