Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir filed a petition on Sunday evening with the Lod District Court to lift the prohibition on meeting with a lawyer, which was issued to one of the youths who were arrested today in Samaria by the Shabak Israel Security Agency. A hearing on the petition is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Ben-Gvir wrote that "the right to consult with a lawyer is a basic constitutional right and the infringement thereof is an exceptional exception and is reserved for isolated cases in which we have a ticking bomb," which doesn't fit here. Citing a previous case, he added, "There is a real concern that the Israel Security Agency will also torture the minors currently being interrogated and we will ask the court to cancel the order so that an independent party will be able to supervise the interrogation."
