Yisrael Hayom reported on Thursday that former Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Benny Gantz is interested in former minister Dan Meridor joining his party.
According to estimates, Meridor's inclusion on Gantz's list is intended to help Gantz cleanse the image of a leftist that the Likud is trying to pin on him and, together with former minister Moshe Ya'alon, to present a list that will appeal to moderate right-wing voters. In recent days it has been reported that Ganz is in advanced negotiations with Yerucham Mayor Michael Biton.
