The Meretz faction of the Jerusalem City Council, headed by Laura Worton, signed a coalition agreement Tuesday with Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon.
According to the agreement, the party group will maintain the status of women in the quality of service portfolio, and will hold the pensioners portfolio in the second half of the term.
With the signing, Leon said, "Today we have made history and joined the broad coalition that I am setting up with the Meretz faction after five years of opposition."
"I welcome this and think that from the coming days, the Leon Coalition will proudly represent all the different populations of the city," he added.
Worton also greeted the agreement and said, "I hope we will do a good job for all the residents of the city and wish us all great success."
