Meretz Party Chairwoman Tamar Zandberg has asked Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to advance his decision regarding cases in which Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has been investigated files in light of the early elections.

Responding to a Justice Ministry claim that the attorney general's processing of the cases is a matter of "orderly and professional work that does not depend on political events," Zandberg wrote, "The basic right of the citizens of Israel to receive information from government authorities on their actions before they elect a new prime minister is essential. Not publishing the recommendations is precisely what creates the appearance of the influence of the judicial system on the democratic process."

She concluded, "It is inconceivable for Israel to go to elections when against there are three recommendations for a bribery indictment the prime minister - the most serious offense to a public figure...."
