The Akko Magistrate's Court imposed cumulative fine of NIS 500,000 on pig owners from the Galilee following severe environmental pollution spanning years.
Among other things, the indictment states that pig carcasses at a slaughterhouse were dumped outside a waste container. Liquids including blood streamed from a waste collection facility to the sewage treatment ponds, causing severe stench, and the wastewater treatment ponds were not properly treated and caused severe odor nuisances.
