The Yisrael Beytenu party attacked the government's policy vis-à-vis the Draft Law. "The coalition, in a cynical move, turns the Draft Law from a substantive issue into an electoral issue."

"The Likud realized that it lost many votes from the secular right and immigrants from the former Soviet Union over the delay of the vote on the Draft Law. The coalition could have completed legislation on the Draft Law at the beginning of the winter session, but because of the surrender to pressure from the haredim, it preferred to ask for another postponement from the High Court of Justice. The question arises whether this is a rigged game and the Likud promised the heads of the haredi parties that if yeshivas don't meet the recruitment goals and are required to pay fines, they will be compensated with identical sums of money from another source. Such a promise effectively empties the law of content.

"We must also examine the claim that the Likud promised the leaders of the haredi parties to change the law in accordance with their demand immediately after the formation of the next government," the party said.
