Outgoing Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh told the Globes conference that the position needed to be seen by the public as apolitical.
"We need to ask the question of how to appoint a commissioner in the State of Israel," said Alsheikh. "In order for the police to be apolitical and the commissioner to be independent, there needs to be a format like a public committee."
