Former United States ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro wrote on Twitter, Sunday, "The Australian model of recognizing Jerusalem is Israel’s capital is likely to be replicated by other county. And maybe by the next US Administration." Asked by a reader if that meant a reversal of last year's declaration by the United States, he said, "Not reverse. Refine."
Shapiro noted "that the strong statement of the Bahraini FM defending the Australian announcement shows how this approach can be useful in advancing relations between Israel and Arab states, and gaining their support for a realistic two-state solution that requires the Palestinians to accept some hard truths."
