Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, Zeev Elkin, who ran for mayor of Jerusalem and despite the loss entered the city council, has sent a letter announcing his resignation from the Council.
On Thursday, a meeting will be held in which the new members of the council will formally take office. People are not allowed to hold national office and local office at the same time.
