The Histadrut Labor Federation declared a labor dispute on Monday over the Reshet franchise associated with the former Channel 2 Television's expected merger with Channel Ten, which is scheduled to go into effect in early January, because negotiations with 220 Reshet employees to regulate their rights following the merger have not been completed.
Histadrut officials say that "Reshet employees fear that this will lead to far-reaching structural and organizational changes that will endanger their job security." The declaration of a dispute means that Reshet workers can take organizational steps by the end of this month, even before the start of joint broadcasts. There is also an open labor dispute among employees of Channel 10 and News 10.
