Rabbi Yitzhak Cohen Arazi, director of the Import Kashrut Department of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, has been questioned by the police on suspicion of committing offenses of integrity and corruption. Additional suspects were interrogated, some of them with a warning of presecution.
The investigation dealt with a number of different incidents in which Arazi allegedly committed offenses of accepting bribes, fraud and breach of trust, offenses under the Income Tax Ordinance, extortion and offenses under the Prohibition on Money Laundering Law, while acting in a conflict of interests. The investigation file will be transferred to the State Prosecutor's Office for the purpose of deciding on whether to indict.
