The Labor, Welfare and Health Committee of the Knesset has approved for its first reading in the plenum, a bill by Member of Knesset Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) and othersthat will grant women workers undergoing fertility treatments 40 hours paid absence for medical examinations and procedures.

To date, absence for fertility treatments has been recognized as absenteeism at the expense of sick leave, but the law states that an employee will not receive payment for the first sick day. Therefore, in most cases, a worker did not receive payment for absence from work for treatments, which usually require a number of hours of absence or one workday at a time.
