Director General Yuval Rotem of the Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter, Tuesday morning, "This morning israel started Operation Northern Shield. This is a defensive operation meant at destroying attack tunnels, crossing into Israeli territory, built by Hezbollah."
Rotem noted, Hezbollah is a dangerous terror organization, at the service of the ayatollahs in Teheran. Israel is committed to protect its citizens and its territory. The Hezbollah activity is a blatant violation of United Nations resolution 1701," which ended the Second Lebanon War of 2006.
