About two weeks before his resignation as defense minister, Chairman Avigdor Liberman of the Yisrael Beytenu Party met with Palestinian Authority intelligence chief Majed Faraj and with senior Fatah figure Hussein Al-Sheikh, who serves as a minister coordinating relations between the PA and Israel, according to Israeli public television.
The meeting was also attended by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Kamil Abu Rokon. It was called at Lieberman's request to speak about the security coordination between Israel and the Palestinians and possible easing by Israel. He resigned before a followup meeting took place.
