A delegation of Ethiopian Jewish leaders, headed by attorney Prof. Michael Corinaldi, met yesterday with Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit and the top echelons of the Ministry of Justice, asking them to act immediately to stop the demand of certain Ethiopian Jewish rabbis to undergo "giyur lehumra" conversion on the grounds that there is doubt of their Jewishness.
Prof. Corinaldi explained that the demand contradicts Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's ruling that Ethiopian Jews are Jews in every respect.
