In preparation for Hanukkah, the Beitar Illit municipality has set up a gigantic hanukkiah of electric lights at the gates of the city, which will illuminate the night in different shades, each night according to the number of candles being lit for the particular day of the holiday.
The municipality commissioned the international lighting artist Gil Teichman, who specializes in impressive lighting displays. The hanukkiah covers a large area, with the height of each "candle" being more than two meters and the length of the menorah being more than twenty meters.
