Former chief of staff Dan Halutz of the Israel Defense Forces has sharply criticized Israel's security policy along the Gaza border.
Interviewed by 103 FM Radio, the retired lieutenant-general said, "Israel is is behaving in a prolonged state of helplessness. The residents of the perimeter and perhaps in the future the residents of the center are also being held captive by the whims of Hamas. We paid the price and we did not receive anything for it. We lost our deterrent power and we have to restore our glory."
