The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee on Tuesday approved second and third readings of the bill proposed by MK Anat Berko (Likud).
According to the bill, theft of weapons will be considered "theft under special circumstances" and those found guilty will be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 10 years. Originally, the bill also dealt with the theft of parts of weapons, but during the hearing for the first reading, MK Barako's proposal agreed with the recommendation of the legal advisor of both the committee and the Ministry of Justice to set a different punishment level for the theft of parts of a weapon.
