The Knesset plenum approved in its first reading the bill to limit the change of name of a sex offender, initiated by MKs Orly Levy Abekasis, Moti Yogev and Michal Rozin.
According to the proposal, a change in the name of a person convicted of committing a sexual offense will not be carried out without the approval of the Minister of the Interior. The Minister shall not approve such change of name unless he is convinced that the change does not endanger the public peace.
