The Knesset and the Inter-Parliamentary Union opened, Tuesday, a seminar on parliamentary cooperation in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the IPU's Twelve Plus Geopolitical Group and East Asia parliaments.
Opening the conference, Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein said there are challenges despite progress on a number of fronts. He continued, "The challenges I have listed are not ones we can solve by ourselves or for ourselves. They do not stop for national borders or differentiate between genders, ethnicities, or cultural backgrounds. These are global challenges that demand a global response—new thinking about some of our oldest problems." Edelstein offered Israel's help in meeting the goals.
