The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has rejected a bill by Member of Knesset Mickey Levy (Yesh Atid) which would not allow a commission to be paid to an agent or anyone acting on behalf for a transaction in military equipment that the State of Israel has ordered or purchased.
In special cases, the Minister of Defense could, in consultation with the Minister of Finance, approve a commission under restrictive conditions and restrictions and according to the parameters specified in the Law. The bill was submitted in the wake of the investigation of improprieties in Israel's ordering of three submarines from German company Thyssenkrupp. Police have recommended that Thyssenkrupp's representative in Israel, a former attorney for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, be tried among six suspects in the case dubbed Case 3000.
