Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman canceled the meeting planned today with the bereaved families of those killed in the Barkan shooting attack last month.
The families received a call from Liberman's office where they were told that the meeting was canceled and that a letter had been sent to them.
"I have asked to meet with you with a sincere desire to hear and update you in the hunt for the murderer of your loved ones," wrote Liberman.
"Unfortunately, when a conversation with an IDF officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel, who called you on my instructions, is recorded and leaked to the media, with all the sorrow and understanding, it is impossible to hold an open dialogue."
