The Ministerial Committee on Legislation decided on Sunday to delay by four months, a vote on endorsing a bill to start public transportation on the Jewish Sabbath throughout the country.

Meretz Member of Knesset Tamar Zandberg, who sponsored the bill, claimed that the delay "attests to pressure on a ministerial committee that is afraid of public opinion and elections and prefers to throw this hot potato instead of making a decision." Zandberg also claimed "In every survey and public opinion poll, it is clear that most of the Israeli public supports Shabbat public transportation, including most of the Likud voters and half of the people who define themselves as religious." She said she would submit the bill to the Knesset plenum on Wednesday.
