Amira Oron, who served in her last position as the head of the embassy in Ankara, will replace David Govrin as Israel's ambassador to Egypt, making her the first woman in the Cairo post, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
Oron was formerly the spokesperson for the Arab media at the Foreign Ministry and head of the Egyptian department, and is currently in charge of a desk on economic issues in the Middle East. The appointment requires the approval of the cabinet.
