The Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization, from which the Palestinian Authority was born, has decided to end the commitments of the PLO and the PA to all the agreements signed with Israel, first and foremost the recognition of the State of Israel, until Israel recognizes the State of Palestine within the June 4, with eastern Jerusalem as its capital, according to the PA's WAFA news agency.

According to the concluding statement of the council's meetings in Ramallah, the council, headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, determined that this decision was made in light of what it called Israel's continued denial of the signed agreements, and therefore the transition phase (ie, the Oslo Accords) no longer exists. It was also decided to cease security coordination with Israel in all its aspects, economic separation and taking practical steps to realize the independence of the sovereign state of Palestine.
