The chairman of Yesh Atid party, MK Yair Lapid, said at the start of his faction meeting in the Knesset regarding the massacre in the Pittsburgh synagogue: "This is a reminder to everyone who claimed that the Reform and Conservative are not really Jews."

Lapid added that "These good Jews, lovers of Israel, were murdered in the synagogue, on Shabbat morning, in front of the ark, wrapped in prayer shawls, immediately after they said, 'How good are your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling places, Israel.' The State of Israel bows its head in the face of their deaths, but it is not enough. It is not only in their deaths that they are Jews like us, but also in their lives. The government must not only give them equal rights in their deaths, but also in their lives."
