Senior Hamas figure Ahmed Bahar, deputy chairman of the Palestinian Authority parliament, says that any decision taken by the Palestine Liberation Organization's Central Council, meeting in Ramallah, is null and void.

He stressed that the council does not have the authority to dissolve the parliament, elected in 2006, and that parliamentarians are continuing their parliamentary activities. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who is also the PLO and Fatah leader, is considering the possibility of dissolving the parliament in which Hamas has a parliamentary majority. Since 2006 there have been no parliamentary elections whose term was supposed to end after four years.
