The cabinet has approved the establishment of a memorial center for former prime minister Yitzhak Shamir.
The center shall perpetuate Shamir's work as prime minister, among other things, in the struggle to bring Soviet Jewry to Israel and promote Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria. The decision comes six years after the passing of Shamir, who served as prime minister between 1986-1992.
