The Supreme Court has rejected a petition filed by the haredi-religious Shas Party and the Degel Hatorah faction in the United Torah Judaism Party demanding that the court order Minister Tzachi Hanegbi to postpone the elections in the religious Tel Aviv suburb of Elad, where their mayoral candidate, Yitzhak Pindrus was disqualified over residency requirements, according to Israeli public radio.

Taking over for Interior Minister and Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri to avoid a conflict of interest, Hanegbi is holding a hearing today for the parties and will publish his decision this afternoon.
