The State of Israel has signed a franchise agreement for the planning, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of Route 16, the new entrance highway to Jerusalem, for 25 years.
The new highway, estimated to cost more than a billion shekels, will connect the Route 1 Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway to the capital's western and southern neighborhoods.
