Likud MK and Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said that she supports amending the president's responsibility to decide who forms Israel's government following elections.

"The public interest and the natural thing is that the task of forming the government will be placed on the head of a party, and the current situation in the law requires change," said Hotovely. "I support the initiative of the coalition chairman to amend the law."

Hotoverly's remarks come following a Yisrael Hayom report stating that Netanyahu decided against holding early elections due to indications that President Reuven Rivlin wouldn't let him form the next government even if the Likud won.
