The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America has cited the New York Times for "erasing violence against Israelis and recasting Israel as an aggressor," in its coverage of King Abdullah II of Jordan not renewing part of his country's 1994 peace treaty with Israel.
Reviewing strains in ties between the two countries, the Times wrote, "Last year a confrontation involving an Israeli guard at Israel’s embassy compound in Amman, which left two Jordanians dead, led to a monthslong diplomatic standoff." CAMERA responded, "As Jordan's own Public Security Directorate has admitted, the "confrontation" was actually a stabbing attack by a Jordanian against the Israeli, who fired back in self defense."
