Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said on Tuesday that it is time for a cabinet decision on how to address attacks against Israel from Gaza.
Speaking after a situation assessment with senior officers, he said the situation had to return to the way it was before the weekly rioting at the Gaza border started at the end of March. He said Israel had exhausted its options for the Gaza population and had to start thinking on behalf of the Israeli side of the border. Liberman stressed last Friday's violence after Israel allowed Qatari-funded fuel into the Hamas-ruled area to run its power plant. He said Hamas should be taken at its word that it will continue the violence until Israel's security blockade of Gaza stops, a step that Liberman said Israel will never take.
