The European Union called, Sunday, "on all to act with utmost restraint to avoid further loss of life," following Friday's violence by an estimated 15,000 rioters on Gaza's border with Israel, in which seven rioters died.

Responding to Friday evening's death of a Palestinian Authority resident and last Sunday's murder of two Israelis, an EU statement said, "All such incidents need to be investigated and perpetrators brought to justice."

Responding to the PA's rejection of United Nations Middle East envoy Nickolay Mladenov, the statement said the EU "strongly appreciates and fully supports the efforts of the United Nation’s Special Coordinator who has been working closely together with all parties and with the international community to get a political process going again in Gaza."
