The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has endorsed a bill initiated by MK Itzik Shmuli, under which credit card companies will cease the clearing of the companies found to be in violation of the Consumer Protection Law regarding the exercise of unfair influence and deception in accordance with due notice.

The amendment is mainly relevant to telemarketing companies that exploit many consumers, including the elderly, and continue to collect money through the credit card clearing system, ignoring consumer demands to cancel transactions and stop debits.
