The Jewish Home Party said, Thursday, "The granting of status to thousands of illegal infiltrators - not on our watch," according to Israeli public television.
The party was responding to a Wednesday-evening report by the station that the state is expected to grant asylum to many asylum seekers from Darfur in Israel after the collapse of a United Nations plan on the matter. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri will reportedly have to decide on the matter in the coming weeks in response to petitions submitted to the Supreme Court on the matter. A statement by Jewish Home said, "It\s an absurd decision led by officials promoting the spin as if they [the infiltrators] were refugees with nowhere to go."
