Coalition Chairman David Amsalem has sent a message to haredi-religious Knesset members that he is not willing to serve as an intermediary between the haredi factions to solve the crisis over induction of yeshiva students into the Israel Defense Forces.
Interviewed by Israeli public radio, the Likud Knesset member said, "If we do not pass the law, we will go to elections. Wherever I can mediate and make peace, I am ready. I said to the haredim that they should sit among themselves, bring an agreed solution and we'll move forward."
