Opposition leader Tzipi Livni explained, Tuesday, her opposition to the Nation-State of the Jews Law passed this year by the Knesset. Speaking at a conference of the Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) Forum regarding the law, the Zionist Union Member of Knesset said, "I want to preserve the values of the State of Israel according to what was written in the Declaration of Independence."

According to Livni, "Equality is contrary to the government's outlook. The haredi-religious are not ready to agree to equality for women. Those in the Jewish Home who want annexation [in Judea and Samaria] are also not ready to accept equality because equality cannot be achieved with annexation."
