Iraqi Parliament elects president

The Iraqi parliament has elected Barham Salih as President of Iraq. Salih is a former Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan from the Patriotic Union Party or PUK.

According to the Iraqi constitution, the Iraqi President must be a Kurd.
