Nabil Abu-Rudeina, spokesman for Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said on Thursday that "the Palestinians will not agree to the remaining of one soldier of the occupation on Palestinian land.
He added, "We will agree only to an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, whose capital is eastern Jerusalem." Abbas is scheduled to speak on Thursday before the United Nations General Assembly.
